Bread Tree's Esplosivo sources its herbs and mushrooms from the Calabria region in Italy. This is in the toe of Italy’s 'boot', very near to Sicily.
Christian Zago says "I was born in North Italy in Padua, near Venice. But my father has Southern Italian origins. That is where my passion for Southern Italian food comes from".
Christian's wife Rebecca is an important part of the team. She is Managing Director of Bread Tree.
Rebecca says:
"Good food does not happen by chance, our producers put all their souls and talents in making these exceptional products."
ESPLOSIVO Chilli Sauce (90g)
2,993 bottles funded by 18 backers
Christian's proposal is simple.
Demand for imported Esplosivo Chilli Sauce is strong over the Winter. In the cold months Christian's clientele love the warming taste of Italian peperoncino chilli.
Bread Tree will import and sell 2,800 units of the sauce. Investors will own it until it is sold.
Esplosivo is sold through Bread Tree's usual outlets: Fenwick in Newcastle, garden centers around the UK, independent shops and their restaurant in Box Park Croydon.
Christian's margins are healthy on this product so he expects to be able to pay back in 6 months, plus 8.5% profit.
That's an 18% return on an annualised basis.
